IHOP is celebrating its 56th year of business by offering 56 cent short stacks of buttermilk pancakes. This short stack has been the company’s best selling item since its opening in 1958.

“The 56^th Anniversary Celebration is about more than just an incredible milestone in our history,” Julia Stewart, chairman and chief executive officer of DineEquity Inc., and interim president, International House of Pancakes, says in a release. “It is also a chance to celebrate — and thank — our wonderful guests who have made our brand part of their lives all these years.”

The pancake promotion runs 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 8 at all of IHOP’s more than 1,500 locations.

Law enforcement throughout Contra Costa County will be cracking down on drunk drivers tonight. As part of the Avoid the 25, the anti-DUI task force will deploy officers countywide  to arrest drunk drivers and keep the public aware of the dangers of driving while impaired.

Tomorrow DUI Checkpoint will be held at Clayton Rd and Ayers from 9:30-3:30pm. The checkpoint will be held in front of Kmart in the Vineyard Shopping Center. Enforcement will be patrolling from Bailey Rd to Ayers for vehicles headed towards Clayton.
