Kids Workshop – Build a Lawn Mower Pencil Holder

You can take your kids to a free kids workshop at The Home Depot on Saturday, June 1 to make a Lawn Mower Pencil Holder from 9 am to noon. Click on the “Kids Workshops” tab to register. Receive a KIDS GO FREE ticket offer to any Merlin Entertainments Group US Attraction(LEGOLAND Theme Parks, LEGOLAND Discovery Centers, Madame Tussauds and SEA LIFE Aquariums).

You will get all supplies needed for this project for FREE. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety along with instilling a sense of pride and accomplishment. All kids get to keep their craft and receive a FREE Kids Workshop Apron, commemorative pin and certificate of achievement. Workshops are designed for children ages 5-12. Plan to attend at your local Home Depot.

DUI Checkpoint – In Progress – Now In Concord

Law enforcement throughout Contra Costa County will be cracking down on drunk drivers tonight. As part of the Avoid the 25, the anti-DUI task force will deploy officers countywide to arrest drunk drivers and keep the public aware of the dangers of driving while impaired.

People making plans for weekend trips and parties are encouraged to use a designated sober driver to prevent arrests or accidents. Drive safe and be responsible.

Update: There is a checkpoint tonight in Concord (9:30pm – 3:30am) at Monument and Oak Grove, in Concord. There will also be a checkpoint in Oakley on Sunday.

Free Concert in the Grove – Saturday

The City of Clayton is offering Concerts in The Grove! Free Admission! Saturday, May 25th, 2013 Cover 2 Cover –is a high-energy and fun-filled dance band from the East Bay. They passionately deliver a variety of musical styles, spanning five decades. Cover2Cover has developed a rock solid reputation as one of the top cover bands in the Bay Area. This band will take you back to memory lane, urging you to sing along and dance to the music we all love. Check out this cool sample of Cover 2 Cover!

Come to this great community event and join your neighbors for a remarkable night! Chairs and blankets may be set out after 4pm on concert days. Come early to get awesome seating. Bring a picnic dinner, drinks, ice chest and enjoy a fabulous night on the lawn. The city is requesting no glassware, BBQs, or “silly-string.” Walking to the park is recommended since parking is limited. Help keep our park clean & safe by cleaning up after the concert! Bay Area KidFest – May 25-27

The 24th annual Bay Area KidFest is one of the Bay Areas longest-running family events on the 3-day Memorial Day Weekend. The venue will be Mt. Diablo High School’s spacious 10 acres in Downtown Concord will feature multiple entertainment stages including music, dance, ethnic performers, martial arts, gymnastics, animal shows, circus, magic, clowns and much more. Free kids arts & crafts activities, face painting, carnival games, balloon hats, inflatable and all-new Sports Field of Dreams. Rides include Zipline, ferris wheel, giant slide, pony rides, EuroBungy trampoline, climbing wall, petting zoo, Zippy Pets cars, Bobble Lagoon and more. Visit the eclectic Food Court and over 125 arts & crafts and exhibitor booths. Admission $5 with donation of canned food to Food Bank. KidFest benefits local non-profits in education, health and sports. The KidFest will be held from May 25-27, 2013 from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.
