The City of Clayton is offering Concerts in The Grove! Free Admission! The concert will feature MamaLuke. Check out them Thursday September 5, 2013. Billed as one of “the Bay Area’s premier classic rock dance bands,” MamaLuke was also one of two finalists in KFOX radio’s “Last Band Standing” competition. Adding to their local roots, two members, lead singer Kenny Byers and guitarist Chris Rossi, graduated from Clayton Valley High School.

Come to this great community event and join your neighbors for a remarkable night! Chairs and blankets may be set out after 4pm on concert days. Come early to get awesome seating. Bring a picnic dinner, drinks, ice chest and enjoy a fabulous night on the lawn. Concerts run from 7 – 8:30pm. The city is requesting no glassware, BBQs, or “silly-string.” Walking to the park is recommended since parking is limited. Help keep our park clean & safe by cleaning up after the concert! Emergency Preparedness Fair – This Thursday!

September is National Preparedness Month. Local residents are offered the opportunity to pick up useful information and free give-aways from local emergency service organizations on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Concord’s Emergency Preparedness Fair. It will be held from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Todos Santos Plaza in downtown Concord.

The fair will feature representatives from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and Hazmat team, the American Red Cross, Contra Costa County Animal Services, the Salvation Army, Contra Costa County Public Health Division, Concord CERT, PG&E, CC Sheriff Department, the Mt. Diablo Amateur Radio Club and many more.

Demonstrations by citizen volunteers involved with Community Emergency Response Teams will be presented throughout the evening.

29th Annual Pittsburg Seafood & Music Festival – This Weekend!

Nothing says late summer like Pittsburg’s own Seafood & Music Festival, the two-day, outdoor extravaganza that draws thousands of visitors to Pittsburg every year. The Pittsburg Seafood & Music Festival, now in its 29th year, returns to town Saturday, September 7th and Sunday, September 8 th 2013.

Guests are invited to experience beautiful Old Town Pittsburg as the Seafood Festival returns once again to Railroad Avenue. The Pittsburg Seafood Festival provides a safe and enjoyable environment for the whole family at a reasonable cost.

The festival will open it’s gates to a whole lot of family fun on Saturday September 7 th from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM on Sunday September 8 th. This year’s Festival will offer over 100 Arts & Crafts vendors, over 50 Seafood and Non-Seafood vendors sure to please every taste!

The music lineup typically includes well-established artists, up-and-coming singers and local bands, and this year’s festival is no exception. The event will feature three stages with groups from around the globe, pumping out country, Cajun, zydeco, Blues, classic rock, blues, funk R&B beats and so much more. More than 20 bands are scheduled to play.

There will also be a bigger and better carnival kids play land and petting zoo….don’t miss the festivities this year. The 2013 Pittsburg Seafood Festival is sure to be full of good music, great food & lots of family fun!$8 general, $3.75 seniors and children.

Lego Build Workshops – Take Home Legos Free

One free model per child and the event is open to children ages 6 to 14. The upcoming Model event will take place in all LEGO Stores until supplies last.

Bay Area Family Fest Now Open!

FamilyFest is now open at the Waterfront Park in Martinez!

This is a 3-day weekend of quality live entertainment, activities and  sports for children to stimulate learning and exploration while presenting  parents with new ideas and opportunities from arts & crafts and other  exhibitors. FamilyFest also showcases community groups dedicated to families and  children while celebrating the value and importance of families as a key part of  a healthy community.

All entertainment, attractions and free art  activities are included in the low price of admission.

Additionally,  there are over 20 rides–Zip line, Ferris wheel, pony rides, EuroBungy  trampoline, Bobble Lagoon, Hamster Balls, petting zoo, giant slide and much  more–and delicious food court for additional charges.

FamilyFest is open  daily from 10am-6pm daily and admission is only $5 per person with a can of food  for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. Confirmed: DUI Checkpoint Tonight!

Law enforcement throughout Contra Costa County will be cracking down on drunk drivers Saturday. As part of the Avoid the 25, the anti-DUI task force will deploy officers countywide to arrest drunk drivers and keep the public aware of the dangers of driving while impaired.

Saturday’s DUI Checkpoint will be held on Concord Ave & Market in Concord from 9:00-3:30pm. The checkpoint will be in front of Chili’s. Check back for more information, the day of the checkpoint.

We will continue to make people of Contra Costa County aware of DUI Checkpoints, Smog Checkpoints, Saturation Patrols, and other travel related events.
