Pittsburg Car Show – Now Accepting Car Applications


The Pittsburg Car Show returns on Thursday, September 12, 2013. The car show will be featuring live performances and other entertainment. The show begins at 5:00pm and end at 8:00pm. The entrance fee for cars will be $10 and all cars need to be in their parked positions by 6:00 p.m. Free Admission! This car show will be located in Old Town Pittsburg area.

The final car show will be held on September 26.

Morgan Fire Flared Back Up at Morgan Territory

Residents of Clayton are not out of woods yet. We have received several reports that the fire on the Clayton side of the mountain has flared back up near the pond at Morgan Territory. They have ordered Blue Oak to evacuate. There isn’t enough fire truck and are currently awaiting backup before they allow people back in or out.

Road closures are still in effect and crews are not allowing anyone through Marsh Creek Road in or out.

There’s still many people that can’t access their animals right now. The animals were allowed to return to the area after the fire appeared under control.

Cal Fire is reporting that there’s approximately 3,718 acres effected, including 100 structures threatened. There have been 3 injuries reported and over 705 personnel on scene. If you check the cam above you can see multiple fire spots ablaze.

Mt Diablo Still Burning – Evacuation Area Expanded

The fire is still burning and has grown!  It is effecting about 1,500 acres and is only 10% contained. According to Cal Fire 100 are now threatened.

The fire is in the State Responsibility Area in and next to Mt. Diablo State Park.  The fire burned actively all night and is now threatening PG&E electrical transmission lines, communications infrastructure on Mt. Diablo, and historical buildings at the summit of Mt. Diablo. The cause of the fire is still being investigated and over 705 fire personnel are trying to contain it.

Mandatory evacuations for Oak Hill Lane, Curry Canyon, Curry Lane, Curry Point, Trail Ride Road, East Trail Road, Russelman Park Road, Upper Trail Road and Lower Trail Road.

An evacuation center is up and running at the Clayton Community Library at 6125 Clayton Road, Clayton, California. (925) 673-0659.

Persons needing to evacuate large animals may take them to the Heather Farms Equestrian Center in Walnut Creek. For more information, please visit: www.ecwc.org or call 925-939-2929.

Road Closures: The following road closures are in effect (open to residents only, with photo identification).  Marsh Creek Road closed from Camino Diablo to Regency Road in Clayton.  Morgan Territory Road is closed from Marsh Creek Road to Highland Road (Alameda County). Deer Valley Road is closed at Balfour Road.

The following agencies are working to get the fire contained: CAL FIRE, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, Contra Costa Fire Protection District, San Ramon Valley Fire, East Bay Regional Parks, CALOES, CDCR, California State Parks, California Highway Patorl, CalTrans, Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department, Contra Costa Public Works, Clayton PD, PG&E, America Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

INSIDER INFO: So the word on the street is this a great date night idea and good for smaller groups. Bring a jacket and show up early (6:00pm). Parking is $15 and it’s recommended to pay for parking when entering so you can avoid the line when leaving. This place has multiple bars ($10-12 for cocktails, $6-7 for beer) that only takes cash. Also the Rainforest exhibit closes first at 7:30pm so if you want to see it, see it first. Secondly the planetarium fills up fast and its first come first serve. It’s recommended that you have a plan of what you want to do and when to do it before arriving. It does get quite crowded so getting there early is a must. UPDATE 11:52pm: Cal Fire reported Road Closure for Marsh Creek Road at Regency Drive & Deer Valley Road. Fire crews are reporting that winds are picking up and fire is coming over the ridge towards the Clayton valley.

Mandatory Evacuation still in effect for residents of Oak Hill Lane, Curry Canyon Road and Curry Point have been ordered to evacuate to Clayton Community Library.

UPDATE 10:25pm: Channel 2 News reported that the blaze has grown to “over 1,000 acres and is possibly closer to 3,000 acres”. They also stated that approximately 75 homes have been evacuated and more to come throughout the night.

UPDATE 8:48pm: There is now approximately 175+ personnel fighting the fire including 25 fire engines, 6 fire crews, 4 air tankers, 3 helicopters, 4 dozers and 2 water tenders.

UPDATE 7:00pm: The blazed has reached over 800 acres on the Mt Diablo Morgan Territory area. There is over 175 fire personnel working on containing the fire. Mandatory evacuations are still in place for Oak Hill Lane, Curry Canyon and Curry Point. An evacuation center has been set up at the Clayton Community Library at 6125 Clayton Road, Clayton, California. (925) 673-0659.  

Residents of Oak Hill Lane, Curry Canyon Road and Curry Point have been ordered to evacuate to Clayton Community Library. At 6:15 p.m, the fire is at 400 acres and 10 % contained, according to Cal Fire.

Here’s the official evacuation order from the Contra Costa Sheriff:

**NEW: Please evacuate to the Clayton Community Library at 6125 Clayton Road in Clayton.***

Due to a fire hazard, an immediate evacuation has been ordered for all residents and people on Oak Hill Lane, Curry Canyon Road and the Curry Point area.

Leave now by car. Go by way of Morgan Territory Road. Take only those essential items you have ready and can carry with you. Pets must be in a carrier or on a leash. Lock your windows and doors as you leave. Stay off the phone unless you need to report a life-threatening emergency at your location. However, if you are physically unable to leave your home unassisted, call 9-1-1 for help.
