Monday November 11, 2013 is Veterans Day!

According to Wikipedia, Veterans Day is an official United States holiday which honors people who have served in armed service also known as veterans. It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11. It coincides with other holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect.)

Veterans Day is coming up! To honor all veterans and active duty military, the State Park services are offering FREE admission to all state parks November 9-11! This includes Mt Diablo, Yosemite, Hollister Hills and many others. Check the list for other dates when admission to national parks is FREE for anyone. If you’re active military or family, you can also get a FREE Annual Pass to the National Parks.

Mark your calendar for these fee-free days in 2013:

• August 25 (National Park Service Birthday – Today)
• September 28 (National Public Lands Day)
• November 9-11 (Veterans Day weekend)

Making the fun even more affordable, many national park concessioners are joining the National Park Service in welcoming visitors with their own special offers.
