Main-course salads make great meals on hot summer days. They’re refreshing and easy to assemble but are filling enough to be a complete meal. Williams & Sonoma is offering a complimentary Technique Classes: Healthy Dinner Salads. Come and learn to prepare some delicious salads, along with vinaigrettes and dressings. They will also show you some handy knife skills.

This class will be held Sunday September 1, 2013 at 10am. The hour-long technique classes are free and include tastings of prepared dishes. The class will be held tomorrow at 10:00am and class size is limited. Participants can also enjoy 10% savings on select same-day store purchases.

The City of Clayton is offering Concerts in The Grove! Free Admission! The concert will feature The Chicago Tribute Authority. Check out this Chicago tribute band Saturday August 31, 2013. This upbeat tribute band plays the music of the greatest hit bands of the last 45-years! Chicago Tribute Authority is one of west coast’s most sought-after bands with their pop-savvy and innovative use of horns. Their amazing vocals and instrumentals will make you wonder if this is the real “Chicago.”

Come to this great community event and join your neighbors for a remarkable night! Chairs and blankets may be set out after 4pm on concert days. Come early to get awesome seating. Bring a picnic dinner, drinks, ice chest and enjoy a fabulous night on the lawn. The city is requesting no glassware, BBQs, or “silly-string.” Walking to the park is recommended since parking is limited. Help keep our park clean & safe by cleaning up after the concert! Zumba has returned to the Walnut Creek Sports Basement! Local Zumba instructor Jessica Amato will be leading this Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that blends red-hot international music and engaging, easy to learn steps. Classes will be held Wednesdays at 6:45 – 7:45pm.

All uncoordinated and musically challenged people are welcome, as well as you talented folks. Please wear comfortable clothing and lightweight athletic shoes.

Come join this exciting combined event.  The Clayton Community Church is hosting the 10th Annual Labor Day Derby & Car Show.  This event offers derby racing for the kids (ages 7 to 14). Derby cars and training provided.  Also, at the same time, they have a great Car Show for everyone with over 300 cars to view..  All classes of cars, antique, retro, restored, etc.  Great fun for everyone!!

Law enforcement throughout Contra Costa County will be cracking down on drunk drivers Saturday. As part of the Avoid the 25, the anti-DUI task force will deploy officers countywide to arrest drunk drivers and keep the public aware of the dangers of driving while impaired.

Saturday’s DUI Checkpoint will be held on Concord Ave & Market in Concord from 9:00-3:30pm. The checkpoint will be in front of Chili’s. Check back for more information, the day of the checkpoint.

If you would like to be updated on DUI checkpoints in Contra Costa, it’s HIGHLY recommended that you joining our email list, Facebook page, twitter feed or bookmark us and check back often! We will continue to make people of Contra Costa County aware of DUI Checkpoints, Smog Checkpoints, Saturation Patrols, and other travel related events.
